What’s up for 2005?

Contrary to all the other posts analysing 2004, I think it’s good to look forward. To the year 2005!

Everyone is already discussing new stuff designwise, so I shall just talk about what I am up to for the next year, and it looks promising :P What is there to expect? I have some articles up my sleave and I’ve been playing with me Wacom for some time. Shortly listed, I think it’s gonna be like this:

  • I’m gonna get myself a PowerBook. Have to! (Fundraising, anyone?)
  • I’m gonna launch my portfolio site.
  • I’m gonna draw some comics. Have a couple of ideas already.
  • I’m gonna launch some other stuff of significance, most importantly one in January.
  • I’m going to redesign this very site; become a bit bored by this layout.

There, that’s enough for now! Now tell me, what is up your sleeve?

Reminder to those who like to spend money on me

Christmas is near. Amazon knows what I want. If that doesn’t do it for you, try the donate thing. Remember, anything is welcome. I’m just a poor student.

Also, I don’t have many things to do (at least none for money). So if you need my work, contact me.

  1. Open Bulletin Board 2. And hopefully, padding my bank account with a lot of money.

  2. Buy an ibook.

    Start a new job.

Read the good book front to back.

    Say No more.

  3. Man, I’m gonna graduate from high school, one of the best things that’s gonna happen to me in my life. I’m fed up with that place!

And good luck with all your goals, Rob.

  4. I’m also gonna launch my portfolio site. It’s about bloody time! :)

  5. Btw: are you gonna use a script to manage your portfolio? If yes, then I’m curious which one you’ll be using.

  6. Start my forever-project. Been thinking about this idea for about 2.5 years now... Lack of time as always.

  7. I’ll be finishing some projects, starting new projects. Read lots ‘o’ good books (ultimate hitchhikers guide again dune, battle of corrin, going postal pratchett). Do some stuff, etc.

I’ll be seeing ‘05 as it comes along, no need to plan to far ahead.

  8. Redesign? Again? Aw c’mon, you must be the only person bored with this design.

I’m gonna get an iBook, but therefore I need money. That’s why I’m gonna get a students job for in the weekends. I’m gonna try to survive this school year. In 2005 I’m gonna love the people I love even more. Plus, I’m gonna (have to) move all my music from my iPod to a PC, then burn it on a couple of DVD-RWs, because there is no way to connect a Windows-formatted ‘Pod to a Mac without erasing its data. :(

  9. Mathias, good to hear you’re going to switch. But there’s one problem with your story: it can be done. We have a PowerBook at home, and I simply plugged in my iPod to listen to some music. No problem. And it’s Windows-formatted, so... Unless of course you use the synchronisation ‘feature’, which will erase all data when you connect it to any computer.

  10. Say what?! It’s not like I made this up or something, I’m sure I’ve read it in the iPod manual!

If you want to use your iPod with a Mac and a Windows PC
If you are using your iPod with a Mac and you want to use it with a Windows PC (or vice versa), you must restore the iPod software for use with the other computer using iPod Software Update (see “iPod Software Update and Restore” below). Restoring the iPod software erases all data from iPod, including all songs.

You cannot switch from using iPod with a Mac to using it with a Windows PC (or vice versa) without erasing all data on iPod.

But hey, if you say it works, it works! Reading your comment just made my day. I don’t use synchronisation anyway (who does?).

  11. Mathias, if the Mac can read the filesystem on the iPod, it should work fine. Configuring and uploading might be different.

    And I use synchronisation ;-)
